Both are nuke CVNs in the same price range. I think you simply have to look at which one looks cooler than the other to you......not just that of course, but ENTERPRISE is a one off ship, built only as that, and is older and perhaps a little more famous due to her lineage. And you can get scads of add on PE sets already in production and available from different sources. The kit is a 1980s mold design and not without its flaws. It has no hangar deck. NIMITZ has. NIMITZ can be built as herself or EISENHOWER. Both have distinctively different island and deck layouts. Which one appeals to you more visually? ENTERPRISE is as she looke post 1983 refit. NIMITZ is late 1975, 1976 and has neat airplanes with much much more colorfull airplanes ---the hi viz decals are coming. You can add airplanes from the Tamiya aircraft sets like the EA 6B Prowler and more SH3 Sea Kings if you want. More airplanes are coming available from Trumpeter. NIMITZ gives you a hangar bay. Big plus there, and there is lots of reference material out there for both. And if you need more great pics of just NIMITZ class carriers in one source, I have a photo CD that just hit the shelves. Ray in Canada. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Gary Kingzett Subject Re Remove duct tape, the Force >> Which reminds me, Why is Duct tape like the "Force"?- It has a light side, a dark side and it holds the Universe together. << Not quite. One thing it doesn't do at all is hold ducts together. In that regard it is more like a politician campaigning; a bunch of promises, not much performance, and a whole lot of unintended consequences. Gary ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Norbert Onaitis" Subject Duct Tape Residue OK-for the residue of duct tape residue 1. Mix 5 gal. gasoline wit 25 pounds of chopped Styrofoam. This will yield a sticky, viscous jelly-like substance. Slather this liberally on the residue. Ignite. This will burn at 11,000-degrees Centigrade, removing the residue,as well as the structure that it was applied to.This mix is commonly referred to as "Napalm" (there are different formulae). *Note it will utterly destroy the structure that the duct tape was applied to originally. 2. contact your Home Owners Insurance Representative. He (or she) will arrange for whatever payment is allowed for re-construction of the structure in question. >) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "George Peat" Subject Re Spanish Battleship Pelayo I have check out my copy of warship Volume II 1970 and can find no mention of this ship George Peat ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From "Naval Models" Subject Re Liberty L'Arsenal vs. Trumpeter This weekend I had time to look at both kits. In general the Arsenal kit is the best. Pro points are very nice bulwark and struts (Trump, is much bigger), better detail inside step next to the bridge (Trump, has none), cargo arms very nice (brass), nicer detail on cargo doors, you can find on deck were the anchor comes out (trump, only at the hull side not on deck). Then we take o look at the details, you can find the hatches but not more than a flat thing. Overall the resin parts are much nicer detailet. General looks of the hull are almost the same, only under water were the screw leaves the ship trump is not confirm the drawings. Yes Arsenal is, that line is not as straight as with the trump kit. Then we take a look at the decks, for the bridge, well I think now plastic kit can beat the Arsenal way, it is photo-ets brass where you must turn on the sides. This give a better look than a plastic deck around 1 mm. Then you have the brass from the Arsenal kit, but this will soon arrive for the trump kit from GMM, WEM and perhaps Arsenal. Are there now pro's for the trump kit, yes the kit has a hull with separated underhull, the kit has two underwater inlets? For the engine room, the kit has a decal sheet and the price. Conclusion, we have the situation that you can say best kit is the Arsenal kit (euro 140) and the best buy is the trump kit (euro 29,50). There will come ets sets but when you will have the same looks as the Arsenal kit I think that will be expensive sets. Which kit to choice is depending on your wallet and what you want to do with the kit. I hope this helps.
