Joe asked about the status of 1/350 Korean-era Jets/Helos. James Corley of Nautilus Models had the masters and several test shots for Korean War vintage aircraft (Panther, Banshee, Spad) and a helo at the 2003 IPMS Nats at Oklahoma City. IIRC, his plans were to cast them into white metal. At that time, future development and release plans were on hold pending the rumored release of a 350 scale angle-deck Essex. Since that Essex project has largely gone by the wayside I don't know of any future plans for James to release his aircraft. Ed Grune Mansfield, TX ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From WRPRESSINC@aol.com Subject H M S Tartar In 1944 the destroyer Tartar was scrapped by the Piorun at Milford Haven. Can anybody tell me what month this happened? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "David N. Lombard" Subject Re Status of 1/350 Korean-era Jets/Helos? >> Does anyone have any leads/information/rumors about near term plans to create and issue 1/350 scale Korean War-era Jets and Helos to complement the wonderful Trumpeter ESSEX class carriers? While this versatile carrier had numerous variants, from an early LPH (assault ship with early UH-34D CHOCTAW and UH-37 MOJAVE transport helos) to an Anti-Sub ship (with S-2 Trackers and H-34 ASW helos), I'm primarily interested in building a Korean-War era ESSEX with Skyraiders (got some on order from WEM), the HO3S Helicopter, and F2H BANSHEE, F9F PANTHER and Night-fighting F4U CORSAIRS (don't get me wrong, I'd quickly purchase any and all of the aforementioned aircraft!). Any hope of seeing any of these aircraft in the near future? << FWIW, there are some contemporary photos of helos at http//www.lombardsnest.com/cgi-bin/photo/index.cgi?mode=view&album=/Ships/LST-938 David N.
