The last thing I want is to be on another database and have to remember another password. Many like me will like to just browse around first without being hasseled. If the products offered are attractive I'll buy. But otherwise I was never there. << It is not a requirement to sign in to browse the site. You can browse and even purchase without having signed in. Just choose the topic of interest and click on the select button. Don & Renee ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Ricardo Astorga" Subject Korean War Essex class carriers Joe The October 1953 issue of National Geographic Magazine contains Admiral Arthur W. Radford article "Our Navy in the Far East". In this issue are displayed color photos of the U. S. Navy carriers USS Philippine Sea, USS Princeton, USS Kearsarge and USS Antietam performing combat operations during Korean War. Another good reference for carrier equipment is Stefan Terzibaschitsch book "Aircraft carriers of the US Navy" ISBN 0 85177 159 9 where you can find the Essex class carriers evolution. Hope this information will be useful for your project. Ricardo Astorga ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From GRBroman@aol.com Subject Re Washington, DC Hobby shops >> I recently moved to Washington DC, can anyone recommend any good hobby shops in the area, thanks in advance. << Try Granddad's Hobbies in Springfield. It's just off I-95. Go south on Braddock Road and go east on Port Royal Road. It's 3/10 of a mile on your right. A great store with lots of interesting ship stuff. Glen ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Kcompany@webtv.net (Marvin Reichman) Subject Paints Gentlemen Is there a line of hobby paints that are non-toxic. I have asthma which I am sure came from years of using such paints as humbrol etc. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From "Pasenelli, William" Subject Re Washington DC Shops Washington DC shops - probably the best stocked traditional shop is Grandads off the Braddock Road Exit of the Beltway. They have a good selection of almost everything. Hobby Works is off the Rockville Pike in the Bethesda area. Hobby works used to have a branch in Laurel Maryland. They are a little less likely to have the latest ship kits but have some items. Nostalgic Plastic in Silver Spring is sadly no longer open. Doug's Hobby in Waldorf has some kits but relatively few. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the SMML site for the List Rules, Reviews, Articles, Backissues, Member's models & reference pictures at http//smmlonline.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
