Photos don't usually show that fine a detail, online images are even worse. Is there a resource out there that can help me and the rest of us whose ships seem sparse without the wires and lines? Thanks! Joseph Poutre ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Chuck B. Evans" Subject 1/350 Japanese Warships Hi gang, Does anyone know a good source of where I can find WWII Japanese warship models, especially aircraft carriers and cruisers, in 1/350 scale other than the Tamiya Yamato and Musashi? Thanks, Chuck Evans Minneapolis ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Reynold.Oh@defence.gov.au Subject PE propellers Hi SMML, George Oh from Sydney, Australia, here. Does anyone know if a range of photo-etched ships propellers in various diameters, is available? I have only seen a few PE propellers produced for specific models. If a range was available, the same propeller could be used on a small-scale ocean liner or on a larger-scale submarine, or on an even larger-scale torpedo or outboard motor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From "Jonathan Webb" Subject Shipping Charts Can anybody advise me of where i can purchase a nautical mapping chart showing Jutland area. Thanks j. webb ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From "Harold Stockton" Subject 1/35 scale Riverine craft series For those into Riverine craft from the Vietnam era or 1/35 scale ship modelling, you might want to take a look at Masterpiece Models at http//www.masterpiecemodels.com/for_sale/sale01.htm . Included in their range of kits are these The first in the Series is the Program IV Monitor, to be followed by the Program V Zippo Monitor. The first kit scheduled to be release in Febuary of 2005. They also have in the works the Program V Monitor with Howitzer, PCF Swift Boat and the ASPB Assaualt Support Patrol Boat. The Zippo Monitor looks quite good built-up, and the ASPB Assaualt Support Patrol Boat looks quite interesting. With the ATC Armored Troop Carrier "Rag Top" Monitor an interesting subject is also offered, as is the ATC Armored Troop Carrier "Tango-flat-top" helocopter carrier or landing platform. This kit would look stunning with a 1/35 Huey resting on top. Finally, comes the PCF Patrol Craft Fast Mark I Swift Boat. From the company's images these kits appear to be very large resin castings with very fine detail molded in. Prices will range from $149.00 to $199.00. One can contact the company at info@masterpiecemodels.com or call 360-256-1488. I used Insignia Red and Insignia Blue for the funnels - colors of the US flag. For the deck based on a couple of color photos and confirming with an ex-crew member (who was the purser for several years) I decided on Coach Green from the Floquil Model RR color line. The boats were aluminum as were the mast and booms and kingposts but the covers I don't know what I did - the model is at home. All of these colors should be available in acrylic. I recall that someone gave a close match in Humbrol to the Cunard Red but I don't recall which number it was, sorry. Hope all is well with the Brown clan.
