I plan on passing along the information on the one I am working with . IT all has help, Don That Portland Rustbucket in Portland Oregon ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From hsal@suomi24.fi Subject Saratoga CV60 1967 cruise Dear sirs, I was seven, when I saw Sara at Palma de Mallorca harbour in summer 1967. Now I'm planning a project to make nostalgic plastic models of the ship and some aircraft she carried that time. For this, some information is needed. Could anyone, please give me some hints where to find reference photos of the ship and her A/C of those days. I already have the Wings of Fame mag vol 19 with b&w photos of Vigi's, but what were the colours. VF-31 F-4B's trim colour was red with black letters AC on it and the cat diplayed on their Demons and later on the F-4J's was missing- am I correct? I have seen only one photo of VF-31 F-4B, and that was probably not during any cruise, because the carrier's name was missing. Any pieces of info are welcome concerning the colours, other markings etc. of this particular time of the Sara itself and the A/C of VF-31, -103, VA-216 A-4's, what was the number of the other A-4 squadron (the Sara's website does not have that info), VA-176 A-1H's and RVAH-9's RA-5C's. I already have Kasulka's book of USN A/C carrier units vol. 3. Does anyone know any good decal sheets for those A/C? Thank You! Sincerely, H Salonen, member of IPMS-Finland Fi602 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Keith" Subject Re USS Nimitz rudders Two rudders, same as built. As a bonus Enterprise has four and Forrestal and Saratoga have three. Do you know where the third one is located? Their first (OZCONV14408) are REPLACEMENT TURRETS FOR AIRFIX 1/600 HMS AJAX. Correct shape turrets, moulded in resin (Set of 6 per pack) - $6.50 Australian. This should make modeling this old kit a little easier, and should go along nicely with WEM's PE 1/600 HMS Ajax (Reference #PE 617) designed to fit the Airfix kit for a late pre-war/early WWII fit.
