For a picture, go to my website www.zeistbouwplaten.nl, page Polish Models (Poolse modellen). Card models are generally very good value for money - and do not underestimate the detailing! Diderick A den Bakker, Zeist Card Models, Holland ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Tim Perry" Subject Re Landing craft Chris, I have a few links on my www.kipperboxes.co.uk site for Landing Craft modelling. I bought a set of LCT 4 drawings from Traplet Publications, although they are a little simplified. They do some for a LCF 4 and several smaller types too, an LCM3 and LCA. www.floatingdrydock.com also do several sets on US types, so certainly worth a look. I am working on a 172 LCT 4 right now, although as usual researching for the intended load (6th June, Sword beach, 79th Div Crabs and AVREs, plus a D7 dozer) inevitably means complete distraction. But then, I never finish anything anyway..... Landing craft are certainly a neglected area of study. Now Dragon, Italeri and Trumpeter have released injection-moulded LCM3 kits in 135 and 172 scales recently, maybe there will be others. The Accurate Armour kits are quite fantastic! Blush away, Danny; its the truth!! I have been happy with them in the pass, i HAVE BUILT A FEW FOR OTHERS . OK all you have a safe weeken i HOPE SOME OF THIS WILL HELP. DON That Portland Rustbucket in Portland Oregon . USA ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "Daniel Taylor" Subject Landing Craft Dear Chris In response to your question >> Having seen the kit that sparked this thread, plus quite a few others at Telford, can anyone point me at 1/72 or 1/76 or even 1/35 scale plans of the sort of landing craft used during D Day? << Good plans are a little bit thin on the ground. I'd strongly recommend digging out as much photographic material as possible to to base a model on. I tend to use more than one set of plans for any given vessel and, as they frequently come form archives with access to the original shipbuilderrs plans, they can cost more than a resin model. Still, if you are not put off, I would recommend talking to Floating Drydock in the US. I have plans of LCI(L) and LST from them; and to John Lambert's plans service, he offers an LCI(S). You may have to get the plans copied to the right scale. All are appropriate for D-Day. If you want to do some smaller craft there are kits now available that cover the period which would give you a starting point Dragon have produced a 1/72 version of the LCM3, whilst Milicast have LCMI, LCM3, LCM6 and LCA all to 1/76. I mentioned earlier in the week that I would post the url for Milicast. It is www.milicast.com . The site does not have the LCA as yet, but it is meant to be appearing soon. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to you all. Dan Taylor ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From wdnoble@comcast.net Subject CC LEE Greetings from Oregon! I've noticed some CC Lee kits of late on Ebay and elsewhere -- one was a 1/400 Graf Spee that certainly looks like the discontinued Heller kit; another was the P&O "Oriana", which looks to be the same size as the '60's - era Revell offering. Anyone know anything about CC Lee out of China? Did they really buy up all those old moulds? Is their product any good at all (I'm reading mixed reviews)? Best, Will ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From wdnoble@comcast.net Subject 1/350 ship motorizing components In addition to the PE and hyperrealistic 1/350-scale ships I'm building, I'm also building a 1/350 and box-scale RC 'fleet' for my girlfriend's son, and I'm finding that components are NOT easy to come by. I've scavenged older kits for gearboxes -- which seem to be the Achilles' heel of this whole project -- can anyone direct me here? Is there a better way? Do Tamiya or another of the 1/350 kit producers have a 'parts line' from which I can purchase gearboxes and other unique-to-model-ship components for R/C? Best, Will ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From John Collier Subject Israeli Ship Question Looking for any photos of "The Jewish State" later renamed "Matzpen" which began life as the "USCG Northland WPG-49. Any Isreali ship modellers out there with any photos or sources for photos? Thanks and a Happy Holiday to all! Regards, John Collier ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From Darren Scannell Subject Re Christmas greetings >> A B C D E F G H I J K M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z . ( i. e., no ell, Noel, get it ? No? Aw, forget it. ) << Franklyn, I've seen you ask some odd and interesting questions, but this by far proves you're one twisted Gentleman! Seasons Greetings Everyone! Darren Scannell ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9) From Mac Dale Subject Tribal base color Seasons Greetings SMMLies!
