At this time I build the Jeremiah O'Brian from Trumpeter and the ship has the colour "Haze Grey". I didn't found this colour. Who offer this colour or which colour is nearly the same? Can you help me? I have seen some pictures in the Internet, but the most pictures are showing the ship in a light gray and only one picture shows the ship in a dark gray. What is the best? Thank you very much. Best greatings from Germany (City Aschaffenburg) Carsten Alesch ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Allen Stevens" Subject HMAS Cerberus Just received the new Combrig kit of the Cerberus and as usual its a beauty what amazes me the most is when you compare her size to a battleship/battlecruiser like HMS Hood you could practically park her on the boat deck! Cant understand why some people have no interest in our heritage, the Cerberus is pretty unique (one of the worlds first true battleships) and if we lose her to the sea it will be a crying shame. Fortunately we are not going to lose her, I was amazed to hear that she still existed and that her turrets and guns were still in place. When she is raised and restored it will be well worth the 12000 mile trek from the UK just to visit her. I have been on the projects website and made a donation I would urge all like minded souls to do the same. Allen UK ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "John Snyder" Subject Re Post War USN Submarine Paint Colors Note that the recent photos of the damaged USS San Francisco in drydock clearly show her with a red underwater hull. Best regards, John Snyder White Ensign Models http//WhiteEnsignModels.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "ronald smith" Subject Re Post War USN Submarine Paint Colors From Ives100@aol.com >> The 1950-60's paint schemes for submarines did show considerable variation. My research indicates that Nautilus was launched in a lighter gray topsides, with black anti-foul below the waterline. An early color photo is on the following website << Tom, Thanks for the information and the effort that it took to pull it together. Looks like I was at least heading in the right direction. Your information and the great weblinks you referenced will be very helpful. Back to the workbench - information in hand... Thank you again... Ron ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From "keith bender" Subject Re WWII Queen Mary Hi SMMLies, I have a color photo of Queen Mary and it is June 45. she has a black boot top over anti fouling red at this time. Her decks look to be unpainted as well. The life boats were the same gray as the hull. I've seen other photos of other times during the war were it looks as if her decks were painted gray. I never seen her in war paint with the white pin stripe over her red bottom. An old submarine sailor never tires discussing his craft. Email any time you have a question. Rick Nelson "Damn the Pressure, Six-Zero feet!"
