Foran" Subject Denver Hobby Shop Re Denver & New York Hobby Shops, Joao Andrade Guerra I can reccommend a gtreat hobby shop in the Denver area. About 40 miles north of Denver is the town of Greeley, CO, where there is a hobby shop worth the drive. It is Don's Hobbies and Raceway, 815 10th St. (right downtown). Phone is 970-353-315. I live in Ogallala, Nebraska, about 200 miles northeast of Denver, and make it a point to stop in the shop whenever I go to Denver (which is fairly often as my daugther's family lives there). Don's shop features airplane and ship models on the ground floor, model cars and a model car race track upstairs, and the basement is filled with model trains. As I build both ships and planes, and am an active model railroader, I find the place an ideal shopping spot. He carries some hard-to-find (in this area at least) brands of plastic ship models. There is a large-scale model ship club in Greeley, which displays some of their work in the front windows. I know of no other shop in the Denver area that carries such a complete line of scale models. He also deals in rare coins (upstairs, too). Les Foran A long way from the sea ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From beyondsun@mindspring.com Subject Re degaussing? I really have no idea - have never heard of this before, Diderick - but "metal wire of at least 100 meters" sounds like a description of a low-frequency radio antenna to me. Am I even close, anybody? Cheers, Matty ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Tom Saundry Subject Mutsuki Camoflague Fine Point As a final follow-up on this on-going topic, am I to understand that only Mutsuki herself, rather than all ships in her class had camoflague because she was involved in the Aleutian operations? I only ask because I think that I got some misinformation some years ago that all members of this class had camo and I feel that the assembled expertise in this forum can set me straight. Thanks in advance, Kind Regards, Tom Saundry Vancouver, BC CANADA ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "Chuck Messer" Subject Re Hobby Shops in Denver, etc >> I am going to Denver next week and then to New York for business related reasons. Since I hope to have some free time can someone suggest good hobby shops, maritime bookshops and museuns to visit in both cities? << I don't know about New York, but you might look up Colpar Hobbies in Aurora, the Denver area. It's at 804 S. Havana St. Aurora, CO 80012. The phone # is (303) 341-1554. Very nice place, very good selection. If you go there on a Sunday, ask for Hugh. He's our resident ship guy.
