Have tried using floss and also using small diameter tubing but both look to me, like wire or tubing glued to the outside of the stanchions instead of between the stanchions. At 1/96th scale it just looks out of place to me. So hope that some of the SMML gang will share there tricks with me. Thanks for you time, Mark ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Steve2316@aol.com Subject HMS COSSACK There were two HMS COSSACKs, one was a Tribal Class pennant number F03; the other was a CH,CO,& CR Class, pennant number R57. Below is info on both ships Tribal Class CH,CO,& CR Class FO3 COSSACK of 1,854 Tons R57 COSSACK of 1,825 tons BldrVA Tyne BldrParson MST Co. Hope this information will be of some help. Cheers; Steve ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Tim Stoneman Subject Pennant number of HMS COSSACK The RN 'Tribal' class destroyers were originally allocated Flag L but this was changed to Flag F in December 1938. In April 1940, this was altered to Flag G, which they wore for the rest of the war. The Airfix kit represents COSSACK as built, and so the number is correct (although the style of lettering is a bit basic). Tim Stoneman ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From RDemeyere@aol.com Subject Oriskany at Port of Pensacola I suspect many SMMLers will have already seen pictures of the USS Oriskany laid up at the Port of Pensacola to complete stripping her of environmentally hazardous materials prior to sinking as an artifical reef. For those of you that haven't, here is a link to the archive page at Model Warships.com http//www.modelwarships.com/features/archives/Oriskany-End/index.html Due to a formatting problem on the page, you have to scroll down a bit before the picture icons appear. Sad to see her in such a sorry state, but sinking is a far preferrable for such a noble ship compared to being turned into razor blades and automobile parts. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From Steve Norton Subject Re Pennant number of HMS Cossack HMS Cossack's pennant number was indeed L03. And as for naval hoists, they vary between eras and navies. In NATO navies the hoists are contained in the current edition of ATP1 Vol II, a classified publication, to preserve the security of the signals used during wartime. S.A.
