Foran" Subject Re Scale Figures Actually, N-scale is 1160 scale. A few model ships are now appearing in this scale. Remember when it comes to the human body, there can be quite a difference in height. The museum is located in a former VOC (Dutch East Indies Company) building, next to the former Admiralty shipyard. In the cellar there are three shops, a naval bookshop, a gift shop and a modelling shop. With these, you have a pretty good view of what's available within Amsterdam if you have the opportunity to travel outside Amsterdam there are many more places to go, but the Museum is a good starting point anyhow they can give you further advice if you want. Enjoy yourself! Maarten Schönfeld Nootdorp, Netherlands ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Maarten Schönfeld Subject Body plan of USS Indianapolis CA-35 Hello fellows, For another SMMLly I have taken on to make a lower hull for the 1700 cruiser USS Indianapolis (either Matchbox or Tamiya). Until now I have failed to locate a body plan (or hull plan) of this ship, showing the frame shapes. Can anybody help me? Maybe a body plan of one of the other closely related classes might be of use too, since it appears that most US cruisers from the thirties had almost similar hulls, differences being confined to the superstructure, engines and armament. Thanx in advance! Maarten Schönfeld The Netherlands ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Richard Sweeney Subject Re Scale figures >> Actually, N scale is 1148, whereas Z scale is 1220. I use Z scale, which yields slightly short figures; N scale figures are quite large at 1200. << Actually, N scale is 1/160th scale. Rich Sweeney ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From "Jag" Subject N scale as opposed to Z scale Tom, Actually, N scale is 1160, not 1148. I belong to the local N scale club here in town. Best regards, Tom@JAG ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From "D.A. den Bakker" Subject Maritime Museum in Amsterdam The big, national museum is on the Prins Hendrikkade - coming out of the Central Station, you will see the replica of a 17th century sailing ship across the water to your left - aim for that. 15 minutes' walking. Hope you will enjoy our capital. Diderick den Bakker, Holland ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From "Anubis" Subject Re Scale figures Sorry, but it seems, you´re wrong. I built modelrailways in N scale for years.... its 1/160 Regards Anubis ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From "Martin Lamb" Subject Help with washes and decals disintegrating SMMLers, I need assistance with two problems I have had differing results when applying washes to models. In some cases the wash goes on fine and the residual easily removed. In other instances when I apply the wash it stains the underlying paint as soon as the brush touches the model. This stain/smear cannot be removed with thinners. I'm using Humbrol enamel paint and an acrylic wash. The other problem I have is with decals disintegrating when placed in water, I've tried spraying them with Dullgote but that just stuck them to the decal sheet. Any suggestions to the above problems would be appreciated.
