Poore" Subject Re 1/20 scale figures >> I am looking for some 1/20 scale or even 1/24 scale crew for my Dumas PT boat. Does anyone know a place I can find these? << You'll have to modify them for your purposes, but I'd check out Tamiya and other companies that do figures in 1/24th scale for their automotive lines. They have drivers, mechanics, bikini clad women with trophies, etc. You can also get some cool tool sets with these figures. Devin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Dean, Tom" Subject Roger Thompson, Knightsbridge College, article critical of the USN Hi Gang Stumbled across this article when doing a search, for what I can't remember, and found it interesting. Not sure if I or any of you will agree with some or all of the article but it is a good, if not long read. Food for thought I guess. I've never seen any. My only 'quick fix' would be to modify some Tamiya race-car pitcrew or mechanic figures. All you'd have to do is put the sailor hats on them and paint their overalls/shirts & trousers in the appropiate colours. George, out. TX ends............. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Jtennier@aol.com Subject Scales Hi I follow that there are differences in scale for different places, but can anyone say why? For example, I understood the North American "HO" was 1/87, but the English equivalent was "OO" and that was 1/96 (based on 1/8" = 1 foot), which makes good sense, but how did 1/87???? Importantly, when do we get to have nifty for 1/700 and 1/350? I'm proposing that 1/1200 be called "TS" scale, for "too small". John ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From Reynold.Oh@defence.gov.au Subject USS Buchanan/HMS Campbelltown conversion set George from Sydney, Australia here. An American mate & I were wondering if an after-market kit (with instructions) is available that converts the large Revell 1/240-scale (or the Airfix 1/600-scale) USS Buchanan/HMS Campbelltown, into her OP Chariot configuration? The main items that would be needed are the replacement & additional weapons (20mm's, Mortars, 3pdr cannons), the additional armour/padding aound the bridge, templates for the forward funnel shroud/4 x fore-aft steel fences (that the Commandos hid behind) & floor of the two raised-and-connected 'bandstands, and rilings for the bandstands. The instructions could also point-out the items that are to be leftoff the model (torpedo tubes, 2 x aft funnels etc). We are hoping the answer is "Yes, from ....... " or "It'll be out in 6 months". ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From "Leslie Rogers" Subject Cosmopolite I need help from our English members. An old pommie mate has asked me to restore a model that is 80 or more years old that his parents brought to Australia when they migrated. I have searched old ship drawings and photos and have this as a start. It looks like a vessel called a forepeaker laid up at Walmer called COSMOPOLITE around 1910. Clinker built with spanker boom and bowsprint which are quite long approx 1/3 length of hull each. Possibly the hull is 45ft long (a guess) open vessel covered fore peak with some type of accomodation.Three masts around the same height. May have been built at Deal. I would like to make the resoration as authentic as possible as I have only a hull and a few spars. In advance thank you.
