I am familiar with the "built up" you mentioned, it's nice, but not that nice for the price. In the event you find something better, let me know. Our interest is that we have a total of 28 N3Ns in the collection, including one of only two in the world that are displayed on floats, one displayed without fabric and metal panels to show the structure and two "flyers"....we also have 24 more airframes that are destined to be restored to various states of assembly to be part of a planned "life size diorama of an aircraft assembly line" in a new facility that we have in the works. Images of our N3Ns can be found at www.yanksair.com As it happens, the newest issue (the one with the Lancaster nose on the cover) of the British publication Flypast has an excellent article with photos showing the only flyable N3N in the UK. Nat ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Hank Lapa" Subject Re N3N Model I think Esoteric Models is the outfit that issued a vacu-form of the N3N, with wheel or float option. It was 1/72 scale. I would do a search for "N3N" + "esoteric." I think you can get set up with eBay so that you will be notified if an item matches your search. That's the best advice I can give. Or . . . since few know the difference between a Stearman and an N3N, just built a Stearman and call it an N3N. Check the various aviation magazines for pre-made models at a better price. Hank ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Skyking918@aol.com Subject Re maneuvering carriers by airplane power This procedure is featured in a scene in the film "The Bridges at Toko-Ri," in which the air boss (CAG) complains about how the ship's captian is ruining his airplanes. The airplanes were AD Skyraiders. Michael McMurtrey Enid, OK ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Skyking918@aol.com Subject Re Maneuvering aircraft carriers by airplane power For the real story of the incident depicted in "The Bridges at Toko-Ri" see http//www.uss-bennington.org/non-benn-bridges_at_toko_ri.html Michael McMurtrey Enid, OK ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From Gary Subject Re Aircraft Maneuvering Ships FWIW, the film Bridges at Toko Ri includes a scene of the "Savo" docking in Japan using the Pinwheel manuever, including the complaints of the CAG. Gary Schurr ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From Gary Subject N3N Aircraft The only kit I know of is the long OOP Vacform kit from Esoteric in 1/72 scale. It appears from time to time on e-bay. I believe it included a float option. Good luck. Gary Schurr ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From "Tim Perry" Subject Re Pinwheeling Watch the film 'Bridges at Toko Ri' to see this maneouvre in action, and the blazing row it causes!
