His subject is the Nichimo 1200 kit, and the photos are taken in-progress so you can see what he is doing. Very informative. Check their website http//www.naut-res-guild.org to get information on back issues. Gary ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "wienne@pandora.be" Subject Re Yamato Well, you could have a look at the 1/10 model at the Naval Museum in Kure, Japan. If that's not an option, there is an very good and complete walkaround of it posted somewhere on the net. I downloaded all the pics, but can't find the address no more, I'm afraid, somebody could be of more help here, I guess. If not, let me know and I'll post them privately, and send you a link to them. Mailing them is not an option, we're talking of 20+ Mb here... There are also some nice build-ups of Yamato models on the Net, having a look around the different ship modelling sites will be of help. There are also some other books on the Yamato in Japanese. Regarding the Kulski book and the Kure model. I noticed that the Kure model has several square or other triple 30mm stands, where Kulski has them round. Especially the dual tubs on the poop behind the crane. (The ones Tamiya didn't depict in their 1/350 kit.) As the Kure model is more recent (more recent references available) and I guess the builders did their research (Who would want to screw up a 30m model, being the main attraction in a museum) I wonder who is right? I almost completely trusted Kulski but I doubt now... Wienne ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Mccullough, Vincent \(Mission Systems\)" Subject Re Yamato Danny, Try checking out Harry Ohanian's article on super detailing the Nichimo Yamato in the Winter 2004 & Spring 2005 issues of the Nautical Research Journal. I've seen the model in person, and it's a magnificent job. Vince McCullough Nautical Research Guild Washington Ship Model Society ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "Hank Lapa" Subject Gunze Saygyo RMS Lusitania Back In Stock! All, Anyone building or contemplating building this kit should be aware that 1) This kit was tooled by Entex many years ago. Fairly cutting-edge then, but needs help now. 2) Recent research has found that the ship was not in peacetime colors when sunk, even though being operated "strickly for non-military use." Please feel free to ask me about details of the above (or other liner questions). Hank ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From MPMenache@aol.com Subject Re Yamato To make a really presentable kit, I recommend to get Gold Medal Model's photo etch kit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From Donsrcships@wmconnect.com Subject Gary K HEY Gary K this is DON your old ship buddy here in Portland get back in touch , I have have lost all information on ya.
