Do any of you fine craftsmen know where I can find a photo of the inside of the PGM's open cockpit directly behind the armored super structure? It is similar to that used in our PT boats and British patrol boats. Thank you. Regards, John Kutina ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Ed Grune" Subject Other Monitor Models Sandy identifies several USS Monitor models. In addition, Iron Shipwright makes a 1350 scale resin & brass Monitor. Modelkrak of Poland makes a 1700 scale USS Monitor & Virginia. The Monitor isn't too bad, but the Virginia looks to be too tall and narrow in the casemate. The beavertail is inconsistent with most available drawings and prints of the era. There are also a couple of paper models of the Monitor. The best may be by David Hathaway/Paper Shipwright http//homepage.ntlworld.com/david.hathaway/ps_web/ps03.htm and there is a simplistic model by Lou Coatney at http//members.tripod.com/~LCoat/monimerr.htm Ed Grune Mansfield, TX ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "roger pearson" Subject WW1 Colours A further question re WW1 ML colours. I've now found another source which suggests most, if not ALL WW1 small ships were painted "Battleship Grey". Again, the question -- what Humbrol colour best represents "WW1 Battleship Grey"? I'm also thinking this could be another item for the 'reference' section, the suggested colours (from a number of different brands) for the various WW2 (and WW1) ships. Cheers and happy modelling, Roger ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From david@dhathaway.freeserve.co.uk Subject Re Hampton Roads ironclads I sell a 1250 scale card model of both the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia - if you don't want to make the card versions you can use them as masters for plastic card parts. Both are waterline models, as accurate as I could make them and the price is low compared to resin -) David Hathaway Paper Shipwright www.papershipwright.co.uk ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "shaya novak" Subject Arleigh Burkes in 1/350 We have the Panda kits again again. http//www.totalnavy.com/350cole.htm http//www.totalnavy.com/350wchurchill.htm The Captain at - Totalnavy.com www.totalnavy.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the SMML site for the List Rules, Reviews, Articles, Backissues, Member's models & Reference Pictures at http//smmlonline.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
