Just curious to see how many SMMLies are going to Atlanta next week for the IPMS/USA Nationals? Nat ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Paul Giltz" Subject Maritime Administration Plans-replies Several people responded to my request for information on the Smithsonian Institution's list of plans from the Maritime Administration last week. At that time there was a minor problem with email listings on the SMML site. If " David HTH", "Joe Hinds" and "Bill"(who had some C-1 info)would contact me I would appreciate it. I find myself more and more interested in freighters and cargo-passenger liners from about 1900 to 1950, if others share that interest drop me an email. Thanks, Paul Giltz Toledo, Ohio ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Maarten Schönfeld Subject Re RMS Republic 1903-1909 and SS Rotterdam 1959 I have certainly an interest for this kit of RMS Republic in 1600 scale. To me, it is preferably a full-hull model, or with an optional lower hull. To add one more of myself I'm also preparing a resin model ocean liner kit, namely the "Rotterdam" (5) of 1959. She was for many years the flagship of the Holland-America Line, both as a liner and a cruise ship. The ship itself still exists after years of sailing under the name "Rembrandt" it was finally saved from scrapping, and is currently being fitted out at Gibraltar to become a museum/hotel/party centre, in it's original home port Rotterdam! It is expected to open in this function coming September. Have a look at http//www.stoomschiprotterdam.nl/ I also like to know if there are SMMLies over the world, interested in such a model. Scale will be 1600 and the type will be full-hull. Hello fellow - Yamatomites! Just a small question out there. Does anybody have the article BB Yamato 1/100 Super Scale Model by Rekishi Gunzo in the Gakken book(s) or would be willing to allow me to copy it, or send photo-stated copies (for “off road use only”- a disclaimer for those copyright legal eagles), as I have the 1/200 Nichimo kit. I would love to have the support material and would be willing to pay a reasonable amount. Please email me and we’ll discuss this. Have a great day! Danny R. Herron ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From ives100@aol.com Subject Re USS Narwhal From Gregory R Shirtz >> I am wondering where I can find plans for the Uss Narwhal ss17. She was laundhed in 1909 and renamed d-1 in 1911. << There is a Narhwal (SS17) information page at http//www.history.navy.mil/photos/sh-usn/usnsh-n/ss17.htm Plans for Narwhal (SUB-001, USS D-2 (SS-18)(1911-1922), $33.00) are available at http//www.marylandsilver.com/submarin.htm Tom Dougherty ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From MPMenache@aol.com Subject Re RMS Republic I personally would be in favor on this subject. I remember that White Ensign tried to make the Aquitania. I don't know what became of that but they required a commitment of about 50 people to get a project like this underway. good luck ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From "Andy Airlie" Subject Re WSW Tanker Thanks to all who sent Info on the WSW Tanker, much appreciated. Cheers, Andy ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From "Jon Holford" Subject Ship's Drawings I am an historian of ship design and construction rather than a modeller. I am having difficulty in getting hold of plans and specification for two classes of ship in which I am iinterested. These are the Rudderow class (TEV) destroyer escorts and the 173ft PC submarine chasers. I bought the Rudderow plans advertised by the Floating Drydock. These were excellent, as far they went, but did not include platfors below the main deck, or the hold, and contained no structural detail. (For modelmakers, why should they?) I also got hold of a mish-mash of PC plans from various sources (principally WM Veigele's excellent book)but again can find no "insides" or structural detail. Can anyone out there help, please?
