Unfortunately, there were only 14 positive responses for this subject, from no less than three sources, which tends to suggest insufficient interest. Nevertheless, I shall pass on the results to the potential manufacturer in the hope that more positive feedback in the future will see this kit produced. Please understand that this was a survey to gauge the popularity of this vessel before investing what will obviously be a lot of time and money on tracking down adequate plans and other details. I shall send out a survey of another subject very soon, and hope for some positive feedback. Sincerely, Michael J. D'Silva ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From AAA Hobby Supply Subject Re Going to Atlanta From RDemeyere@aol.com >> I live in Atlanta, and it would be so easy to attend. For me it's a ten minute drive from my house. There is, however a small problem. The IPMS meeting coincides with my son's wedding in Buffalo, NY. What choice would you make, and why? << Why not do both?! Last time it was here, my fiance decided it was the right weekend to set the wedding date. I got to go Thursday and Friday morning - then on with the wedding. We open Wednesday afternnon - when are you going to Buffalo? If its not too early, come by the Galleria Wed afternoon and at least check out the vendor room - which has 425 tables full of goodies including most of the North American ship companies ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Gary Kingzett Subject Re THANKS - STEPHEN McCALLUM, how do you contact him? - The Late ANTHONY PRESTON >> Still no firm replies on early Italian Battleships like the Dandlo with four 17.72in, 100 ton guns, laid down June 1873. I have a card model at 1200 of her sister ship Duilio. A 1200 scale plan from Germany. Any help from the SMMLTT? There must be books on them with photos, plans etc? << Gary, get yourself a copy of Brian King's "Modelling Late Victorian Battleships", published by Pier Books, Piermont, NY. and distributed by them. The book is still in print. In general he covers all Victorian Battleships, but in specific, he covers how-to and how he built his Duilio. Very inspiring, informative and entertaining. Gary Kingzett ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "Frank Bowron" Subject Re motorized plastic scale models I think motorizing the Airfix 1600 WW2 destroyers might present a few unique problems, Gregory Batteries not included. ;-) Cheers, Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From chris Tilley Subject R A Burt books Does anyone out there have the impossible to find anywhere at all R A Burt Warships Fotofax series books, that they'd either like to sell or wave cruelly in my direction? Failing that, infringing copyright by photocopying a few pages would get my undying gratitude! What I'm specifically after is the pages of the six Russo-Japanese War Battleships from 'Japanese Battleships 1897-1945', the Royal Sovereigns and their half-sister Hood from 'British Battleships 1866-1904' and just to look at 'French Battleships 18XX-1945' & German Battlships 18XX-1945' (XX because I don't know the actual dates on them!) Would that someone would reprint these May I also pass on my respects at the news of Anthony Preston's untimely passing. Chris Tilley (Wondering if Chatham will ever get Victory back. We built her!) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From "shaya novak" Subject Instock 1/350 IJN Mikasa - Battle of Japan Sea http//www.totalnavy.com/350mikasa.htm She looks great in and out of the box with a lot of extra historical items.
