I have been unable to locate a source for any plans, if anyone is able to help I would be most appreciative. << Fine Art Models has an offering of the Endurance, with photos. You might be able to draw your own from these and many other references on the Web. Their Endurance page is at http//www.fineartmodels.com/pages/product.asp?content_area=3&sub_area=11&product_area=61 Also, you might check with the National Geographic Society, which would have plans if anyone did. They also have a book on Shackleton's voyage, $29.95, now on sale for under $12. Randy ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From PAUL TOSCANO Subject Yamato Movie Hi, "Otokotachi no Yamato" could be translated as "The Men of the Yamato" The nuance is difficult to translate however, as the literal translation is "The Men's Yamato." The original title of the book was "The Men Who Made the Yamato" (Yamato no Tsukutta Hitotachi) Essentially the real meaning is "The Men Connected to the Yamato" or "The Men Involved with the Yamato" There is no article "the" in Japanese so this word could also be removed from all of the above. This last translation, "The Men Involved with the Yamato" ("Men Involved with the Yamato") is probably the closest in terms of actual meaning. If you want a creative translation in terms of meaning this would do fine The Yamato and her Men Or even The Yamato and the Men Who Served Her Japanese is a language very different from English or other Western languages and at times can be extremely difficult to translate. Paul Osaka, Japan ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Edwparent@aol.com Subject CSS Shenandoah Does anyone know where I can find hull lines for this post-Civil War Confederate raider? I want to build a 1/240 scale model of this vessel. I have only a sail plan, a profile drawing, one photograph and a couple of eyewitness sketches. I have some photos of a Shenandoah model in the Blue & Grey Museum but it appears to badly out of scale. Does any SMMLie know of any other model existing of this vessel? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
