All the best, Shane ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Gary Subject aircraft carrier, crash and salvage crane Do a search for "Tilly" at the Navy site, you'll come up with some good pics http//www.news.navy.mil Found these around also http//www.midwaysailor.com/midwaymyphotos/89-91e.html http//www.kittyhawk.navy.mil/phod/archive/2005/jan05/050113-N-5781F-041.jpg Hope they help. Please let us know if you find plans or better pics. Gary Schurr ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Tim Perry" Subject Re John Piper Corvette Wow! I think the best thing you could do would be to let me look after it for you..... I remember when I worked in Beatties in Bristol (OK, stop sniggering!!) in the late 70's, the man John Piper himself called in with a made-up one of those, trying to get us to take the kits. I think he had a Steam Gunboat with him too. We were blown away with the models, but with centralised buying, Beatties (as far as I know) never took any from him. Being paid a pitance, and at the time saving for a Nikon for my college course, I didn't buy one myself and have regreted it ever since. I have no idea how much they are worth nowadays. Wouldn't it be great if the moulds and phototooling might still exist somewhere. I didn't buy a Hornby live steam Rocket either... Go to Great Models web-site they carry both. michael ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From "Allan and Crystal Plumb" Subject Lexington in Blue? So, if I decide to build my Trumpeter Lexington from the box in 5/42 instead of backdating at sinking, was her deck natural wood, or painted? Blue? I know what the 9/41 and 6/42 US camouflage rules said ("We dunno yet" first, stain like deck blue second), which would imply natural. But what was it really? I have Classic Warships book, Squadron's Carriers 1, and other sources. None are explicit. Ms 11 for vertical surface, yes, but the flight deck? OK, she's not a battleship, but she was almost a battlecruiser. I always have liked the bows of the 1920-ish US capital ships. Allan Plumb ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From "Michael D'Silva" Subject Re 1400 RMS Titanic Two manufacturers, Academy and Revell offer a 1400 RMS Titanic. Of the two, the Revell kit is more accurate according to reviews. And yes, you are right; it would make a fine companion for the Revell 1400 RMS Queen Mary 2! Good luck with your build, Michael J. D'Silva “Whether I win or lose does not matter; only that I follow the quest.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From Mark O'Neal Leonard Subject Trading Plastic Ship Modeler Magazines Hi, I'm looking for PSM 95/1, 96/3, and 97/1.
