But it was pretty yuk. The Vogons were not in the least bit fierce. The TV series was much better. But never mind Star Wars is out today! I missed it at the cinema, popcorn and beer at my house tonight! Trick or Treat? Any sprog interrupts with demands for candy and I will give them a Trick or two! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From ives100@aol.com Subject Re Special Navy 1/72 U-Boot Type XXIII >> I finally got the above kit, that has been singing its siren song to me for the past weeks. It includes w/ plastic, resin, and PE. Haven't checked the fit yet, but it looks like a nice build. << David, Please, tell us more! Where did you purchase the kit? How does it compare to the ICM 1144 scale kit? Tom Dougherty ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Doug Bauer" Subject Protoboard/butterboard/Renshape As a scratchbuilder I'm always looking for a way to produce a decent hull for my models....lately, I've been using styrene for the main deck, with a thickly laminated centerline and .080" plastic for frames; then pouring polyurethane resin to fill in the voids. The problem with this method is the heat build-up often warps the styrene as the resin cures; or the difficulty in sanding and filling the joints. I understand there is a product referred to as prototype board, butterboard, and a product called Renshape. A company in the US will provide one with a sampling of several of their products, but he wants US$25 + US$11 S&H for this.....what I would like to know is has anyone had any experience with any of these Renshape products, and what would said person recommend for a scratchbuilder like myself, modeling vessels in mainly 196 to 172 scale. Doug Bauer Poway, CA ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From "Rod" Subject Models listed for sale I've listed some models on Ebay under my username of "c177guy". There are some ships, planes and odds and ends. Rod ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Rusty White Subject BIG news form Flagship Models There are big things happening at Flagship Models. We have just purchased the master patterns for all 30 American Civil War ship and weapons models from Lone Star Models. Nearly all are in 1/192 scale which makes them a mangable size for such small vessels. I am currently in the process of updating all the instruction sheets and designing photo etched parts for those subjects that will requires them. I would suggest everyone keep an eye on our web site for the latest news regarding these great kits. The ACW warships are the absolute ipedimy of American history since they represent the birth of the US Navy and incorporate all the inovations we see today in naval warfare. If you want build something really different with history oozing out of every crevace, this will be your oppertunity. We'll soon have a page on the Flagship web site devoted to just these models that include photos of built up models and drawings. More news as things develop.
