If Niko do improve the model and post new photographs on their site then it can be looked at again. Until then we must assume that this is their final version. << Actually I think it only fair to make my judgement on the kit when I see it, not from photos on a website. Mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Ed Bertschy" Subject Need Help Finding Plans I am looking for plans or information on a ship called the General Guerrero. The military transport Guerrero was constucted in the shipyards Barrow in Furness of Liverpool, Great Britain, from where it sailed to the Pacific with stops in Canary Islands, Pernambuco, Buenos Aires, End Sands, Talcahuano and Callao to arrive at the Cross base Saline in November of 1905, to the control of the captain Manuel Azueta. It had two boilers and it was armed with six Cannon tubes of 100 mm From a list compiled by David Chessum TABLE 1 Warships Built for Export 1 January 1905 - August 1914. Name General Guerrero Type Cruiser Transport CustomerMexico Country Built UK Yard Vickers, Sons & Maxim Ltd Tonnage 1880 Launched 08 (Note, info above states it arrived in Saline in 1905) Fate delivered Anyone have any idea how I can go about finding plans for it or another ship like it? Ed ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Leslie D. Foran" Subject DuPont Primer In response to my earlier post on working with PE, Tom Ruprecht asked what specific DuPont primer I was referring to. The stuff was Krylon spray primer. It comes in light gray, dark gray, and a nice red-brown that works real well for hull bottoms. I have been told that this primer, unlike many others, does not contain filler. My experience using this on PE parts seems to bear this out. As long as it is lightly applied (misted on) I have not had a problem with it clogging PE parts such as radar dishes and safety netting. I also find that a light coat of this primer on plastic parts helps acrylic paint to adhere. I have had problems with acrylics scratching easily on parts not primed. Another advantage that Krylon has is that it dries more quickly than most other brands. Les Foran Ogallala, Nebraska ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "Petr Haluza" Subject 16 ft motor dinghy Does anybody know, how the 16 ft motor dinghy of WWII looked like? Any photograf, web page or description...? Petr Haluza ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From Rusty White Subject New photo CD LHA-1 Tarawa Our first photo CD “LHA-1 Tarawa" contains 90 never before published full color photos of the lead ship of the Tarawa class Amphibious Assault Carriers. To my knowledge this is the ONLY photo CD anywhere of these impressive warships. Not only are these images relevant to the Tarawa class vessels, but most are common to all US Amphibious Assault carriers. The CD features images in PDF format that ANY operating system (Mac or Windows) with an Adobe Reader program (FREE from Adobe.com) can view and print out at the viewer’s leisure for reference. The images are arranged in an easy to view (thumbnails) format and searchable groups. All images are taken by a MODELER for modelers. Close ups of the radars, masts, weapon systems, flight deck, hangar deck and wet bays as well as lots of shots of the deck equipment used to move the aircraft around the flight deck. This is THE definitive photo reference of the Tarawa class vessels. Place your order now because we have yet to put this on our web site. Don’t forget our full lineup of “how to” modeling CDs that have been VERY popular. Also see our entire lineup of American Civil War warship model kits on our web site. The CD retails for $19.95 postage worldwide included. Until this gets up on our web site you may send funds via Pay Pal to shipmodeler@sbcglobal.net.
