Maybe they remember Union Carbide in Bhopal and all the wonderful jobs that plant provided for the local population....If your dog makes a mess on the pavvemnt then clean it up yourself. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From tom.naylor@comcast.net Subject Re DuPont (Krylon) primer Will - In response to your questions about the Krylon and airbrushing I'm not sure if the Krylon primer is sold in small cans, but one possibility would be to empty the spray can into some baby food jars or in my case Floquil bottles which I've used for all types of sprays (Dullcoats, metallics, etc.). It will be ready to spray and probably won't need thinning if you use a medium tip/needle. I like the 1/2 oz floquil bottles as the seals seem to hold up for many years. Read a tip in FSM 15 years ago about taking the Badger siphon feed bottle cap and replacing it with a Floquil bottle cap. Simply drilled a hole for the siphon ass'y and a tiny vent hole. This makes it real easy to pop in a bottle of dullcoat/primer/etc. Have a great wekend. Tom Naylor Saugus, CA ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Christopher & Kayo" Subject Re HMS Nizam >> If you don't like it, don't buy it, nobody is forcing you! Going on past experience with Niko kits, I will buy it and if there are inaccuracies, I will correct them. That's what modellers do. << You seem to be acting as a cheerleader for Niko Models - whether self-appointed or official I don't know. I am just someone who knows more about this topic than most having done an enormous amount of research into it. At least with my post people have some idea that there currently are inaccuracies with the model which they will need to correct (if they wish to). This is the nature of review comments - they should give people the information they need to make informed decisions about what to purchase. Note I do not recommend buying or not buying the kit but just point out that, as it stands, it is no real improvement on the old White Ensign kit. Fellow modellers can make a choice based on full information not on a general and vague comment as to Niko Models being good. Christopher ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "Guido Hopp" Subject Re Aircraft Carrier ... cheap Hello, everybody! Hello, Ned! Naturally, points of view may differ a lot. Certainly your claim is right that this contract is lost for the Indian ship breaking company and its employees. I am no person to cry “Hurray” whenever Greepeace is making headlines and I don’t want to start a flame war. However, to believe that protective suits and respirator masks would solve this problem cheaply and easily is naďve. As an importer from the Indian market, I have good insight to the ways industrial processes are working in India. One may have the idea that India is a highly progressive and industrialised society, but If you go outside of Delhi or Mumbai you are entering stone age. Probably you have seen pictures of the Indian ship breaking “installations”. I am very certain, that none of the ship breakers is capable of securely collecting the asbestos dust produced in the breaking process. The dust will travel with the wind and settle on both sea and land intoxicating soil and water. Eventually it will travel back to you, either in the bargain pair of jeans you are wearing or the can of tuna you just opened. As well, I am convinced that the ship breakers haven’t any installations, facilities or capabilities to deal with the asbestos still attached to the broken parts. Most likely, parts that can’t be sold will be dumped into the sea or just thrown onto a pile and be left to rot. As long as, they do not have the provisions to safely detach the asbestos and dispose of them properly or at least store it securely, they can’t be allowed to dismantle such a ship. My applause goes to the French court for not allowing their government to put this problem “out of sight and out of mind”. My respects go to the environmentalists and Greenpeace for keeping up to point fingers and eventually protect you, me, and our children. Thank you for listening. Guido Hopp And that folks, at least for the time being is the last word on this thread.
