There was a minor problem, similar to what you mentioned, with a magazine advertised to have an article on the SS United States in miniature. When I got the magazine, it was a 1-page article, and the craftsmanship of the model was not the best. Anyway, I got what I paid for, although a bit disappointed. But I've purchased many, many nautical books from their dealers, mostly in the US but one in the UK, and had great service! 'Sounds like this one was a dud. I'd tell the ABE folks. Too many complaints and I'm sure they would drop this guy! Cap'n Randy Lee Anne ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Malcolm Waite Subject Internet Books Hi I would contact your credit card company about this, your where overcharged plus the original rise in the postage rates. In the short term your card company should give you a refund then they will sort it out with the vendor. Regards Malcolm ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Ned Barnett Subject Re Experience with an Internet book seller Maarten My experience with other Internet booksellers has been almost wholly positive; however, there are a few bad apples. However, in my experience, ABE Books is NOT a bad apple. You have recourse with them, if you choose to pursue it. I would write them with all the details you provided here, as well as information about the transaction you might not otherwise choose to share. I would be very surprised if you did NOT get full (or primary) satisfaction, and quickly. If you do NOT, please let me know, as I do business with ABE from time to time. I've had wonderful refund experiences from Amazon (when dealing with third-party resellers); I bought a DVD set, and didn't look at it for more than six months (it was a gift); turned out to be defective, and Amazon stood behind it even six months later. I think Abe would do similar - they have that reputation. Good luck - and thanks for this warning Ned Barnett ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Geoff Hanson Subject Re Experience with an Internet book seller Hello Smilies I have dealt with Abe Books a couple of times and did not have any problems. Myself and several friends have found them a useful source of difficult to obtain books. Petrahps we have been lucky. Regards Geoff Hanson ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From skyking918@aol.com Subject Modern US Navy warships colors Help! However, Haze Gray specification is FS 26270 Deck Gray specification is FS 36008. Deck Gray is used on all horizontal surfaces other than those used for flight operations. I don't have the specs handy for Flight Deck Gray or Antifouling Red, but my good friend Randy Short certainly will (Randy--over to you, mate).
