I have the figures produced by Millicast and Hecker and Goros, as well as raided my RAF Rescue Launch kit, but could do with a few more matelots. I know that the Matchbox/Revell Snoweberry kit contains a few nicely sculpted figures (I gave my figures to another needy modeler years ago) and now find myself in need of a few. If anyone is not using the figures from their kit, it would be great if I could have them. I would be more than happy to pay for postage, etc. Thanks for considering this. Or, you want to model the British mini-subs like their Welman or X-Craft, this is the company to look to. This company's aircraft kits give a serious challenge to the other top-flight Polish model-maker of Ardpol, and both of these easily surpass the famed company of CzechMasters. The fidelity to surface and small details and what they put into the finish of the interiors and smaller parts such as fittings in beyond compare to the finest from even the famed Japanese company of Fine Molds. That being said, here are the latest 1/72 scale naval subjects from CHOROSZY, which are generally limited to a release of between 200 to 300 each. Thus, these already are collector pieces S21 Welman Craft (Mini Submarine) http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/zdjecia/s21/s21.htm S22 X-Craft (Mini Submarine) http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/zdjecia/s22/s22.htm S23 M.A.S. 1 Italian Motorboat http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/zdjecia/s23/s23.htm S24 M.A.S. 2 Italian Motorboat http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/zdjecia/s24/s24.htm S25 M.A.S. 3 Italian Motorboat http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/zdjecia/s25/s25.htm S26 M.A.S. 7 Italian Motorboat http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/zdjecia/s26/s26.htm S27 M.A.S. 13 Italian Motorboat http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/zdjecia/s27/s27.htm S28 M.A.S. 20 Italian Motorboat (with MG) http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/zdjecia/s28/s28.htm S29 M.A.S. 20 Italian Motorboat (with cannon) http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/zdjecia/s29/s29.htm S30 class A (A1) Italian Submarine S31 B (B1) Italian Submarine class S32 A (A2) Italian Submarine class S33 CA 1 Italian Submarine class These can be viewed at the company's website at http//www.modelbud.pl/modelbud/polskaiangielska/index_ang.htm For those others in 1/72 scale who want something a little more modern and large, how about George Peat's 1/72 Bay Class HMS St. Brides Bay? http//www.internetmodeler.com/2003/march/ships/SBB.htm http//www.internetmodeler.com/2003/march/ships/SBB-13.jpg Harold Stockton ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From aryeh wetherhorn Subject Re warshipbooks.com c'est finis Keith Please inform me regarding the camouflage files you have for sale. But finding someone "as knowlegeable & talented" is going to be a tall order. Jones could (and did) do it all; he was a whole, one-man magazine staff - and for a REALLY GOOD magazine. He did also have some help, including great photo-essays, from various modelers and maritime historians. If anyone sees a reappearance of PSM - or anything even like it - definitely let me know, please! I'd like to find a 1/350 HMS Zodiac (Royal Navy Z class destroyer I believe), just found out my dad, along with his father and grandfather had tea in the wardroom. My great-grandfather was mayor of Southend-on-Sea at the time and the RN still paid courtesy visits. Just found out that the mighty HMS Hood also paid a visit there in 1932. Also, why is the RN submarine service in WW2 so neglected? Might try and contact Revell to see if they would at least make a British submarine to along with their U-Boats and incoming Gato. Unfortunately, there are no Z-class destroyer kits available, and none on the horizon of which we're aware. As far as WW2 RN subs go, we're taking a close look at producing some, though in 1/350 rather than 1/72. Keep an eye on our website for announcements of subs and other RN subjects. Fujimi issues a surprisingly good IJN CV flight deck cartograph decal sheet. It was issued specifically for Fujimi's Shokaku class versions but has a vast array of striping, decking, hirgana, etc applicable to almost any IJN flight deck. Pitroad also has a decal sheet with striping and hirgana symbols > IJN 1700 PE AIRCRAFT CARRIER DECKS > > I remember someone was doing 1700 PE brass complete IJN Aircraft > Carrier decks, are they still out there? IIRC, Chris Decker's company is producing brass flight decks for Akagi & Kaga. At one time, PitRoad, thru an affiliation with Joe World, produced flight decks for the Shokaku class, Shoho class, Hiryu and I think Soryu. Very hard to find now, though I think Pacific Front Hobbies in the US still carries some. How do these compare with MIRAGE's > series of 1/400 scale subs? At least one of the Mirage 1400 subs, e.g., ORP SOKOL, is a reissue of the AGA kit, with improvements via resin and PE. While I've seen pictures of other AGA kits that suggest SOKOL isn't the only one, I doubt there are more than a couple/few of these. I find the kits that Mirage has produced, e.g., any of their 1400 surface ships and 148 aircraft, to be outstanding! Extremely fine detail, excellent fit, little to no flash. They're one of my favorite kit manufacturers, and not just because of their subject matter. Mirage also have PE for some of their kits; Part has a lot more. My experiences with Part PE shows them to be extremely well done. As an example, some of their 148 aircraft sets include full cockpit detail including all structure, i.e., it's not just an instrument panel and a few levers... -- David N.
