I want to build Invincible as she appeared in December, 1914, at the Battle of the Falkland Islands. Now that I'm actually building the model, I've run into some issues with the layout of the chart house and compass platforms. It seems my untrained eye that the model doesn't actually represent Invincible at any particular time, but seems to be a mix of 1913 and 1914 configurations. I'm using the following references Robert's Invincible Monogram Robert's Battlecruiser book Battlecruiser Invincible by Tarrant Prestons book on WW1 battleships Burt's book on WW1 battleships Burt's book on the Grand Fleet Robert's plans of the Invincible by Sambrook Marine Yet, I still have questions. Does anyone know of any other books, websites or resources where I could find additional pictures of the Invincible undergoing repairs at Gibraltar, post Falklands? Tarrant's book has some close up shots of the forward superstructure while the Invincible was in drydock, post-Falkland Islands, but it's not enough to help me figure out the configuration of the superstructure. I'm guessing there had to be other pictures in that series..the question is, where to find them. Internet searches have led me to the usual pictures, mostly of Invincible as built or early in her career. Thanks in advance... If you're having trouble finding any more after all that, then the question arises WHO on Earth is ever going to be able to dispute you? LOL Seriously though, I know you're building her for a museum display. But, if the precise documentation just isn't forthcoming then I would just take a long look at other navigation stations of the era, and cobble up something with the same "character" - in terms of construction and outward appearance. (That's exactly what I did for the wheelhouse on my USS Prince Georges AP-165, and subsequently-unearthed pictures pretty much vindicated me completely.) But, even if you get the precise rivet-count wrong, ain't nobody ever gonna know, sounds like - including YOU. LOL! What about official sources in Gib, home dockyard uk or Scapa Flow? NMM but very expensive! Just ideas.
