USS Katahdin
ISW 1/350 scale Fairly extensive additions were made to the kit based on US Navy photos obtained from the Mariner's Museum. The awning supports were added, made from brass rod stock. The parts were mounted to the hull and soldered by resistance soldering. Additional supports for the boat racks were fabricated from brass square stock, and the boat booms, of brass rod stock were added. The kit resin mast and booms were replaced with brass rod parts. The awnings were fabricated from eyeglass cleaning tissue, which was painted white and stiffened with dull coat. |
Maury Gun Boat
Lone Star Models 1/72 scale resin. The forward rail was made up of brass wire, soldered in place using resistance soldering. The kit supplies plastic stack was replaced with brass tubing. |
USS Monterey Coastal Defence Monitor
ISW 1/350 The kit was built pretty much OOB except that the resin 10 and 12 inch gun barrels were replaced with turned brass barrels; the mast and boom assembly was replaced with soldered together brass rod parts the boat davits were replaced with brass rod parts and the anchors were fabricated from brass rod. All of the soldered assemblies were fabricated using resistance soldering. |
CSS Pioneer
Cottage Industries 1/32 The Pioneer was the Precursor to the CSS Hunley. It is resin with brass rod stock for the control rods. |
