USS Charles Ausburne (DD 570)

1-1000 scale model of USS Charles Ausburne (DD 570), as in September 1944, departing Mare Island NY

The model is scratchbuilt and is 114.7mm long. The hull is made of putty covered balsa wood, with a plasticard (polystyrene) main deck. Superstructures, fittings, weapons are made of plasticard and various bars and rods from Evergreen Antennae, railings and other wires are made of streched sprue This ship took 3 years to assemble with a total of 2,316 different parts

The "Little Beaver" logos on Charles Ausburne's bridge wings is 0.8mm high I'm sorry I was unable to paint each of the 48 stars on Charles Ausburne national flag


USS Meredith (DD434)

1-1000 scale model of USS Meredith (DD434), as in summer of 1942, just before her loss in the Solomons. This is an older model than Charles Ausburne : the hull is paper covered balsa wood. Deck houses and turrets are made of paper. Fitting are made of plasticard, beams, rods and all the railings, antennae and wires are made of streched glue. This ship took one year to complete with -only- 450 parts
