Plastic Ship Modeler: Issue 22
By: Shane Jenkins
This issue contains the following:
- More photos of Chris Drage's excellent models – This time Chris has done
a 1/700 Rodney/Warspite diorama - bloody excellent. He uses the Tamiya Nelson
& White Ensign's Warspite and updates/converts them with various WEM PE and
resin add-ons. The diorama shows the two ships passing at Normandy from the
bombardment line on June 7th, 1944. Check out the full article at White Ensign's
website and on Chris's Mainbrace page.
- Ray Bean tackles the resin 1/700 Jim Shirley kit of the USS Newport News.
He also does a WW2 diorama of a destroyer in a floating drydock using the
Corsair Armada ARD and the Jim Shirley FRAM Sumner
- Dan Jones does an article with plans on the evolution of oil transport -
a much neglected part of ship modelling.
- Mike Cooper scratchbuilds a RN WW2 Paddle steamer HMS Aristocrat which
was converted to an AA ship from its civilian guise of SS Talisman. Another
neglected part of ship modelling which is good to see.
- There is also a selection of ship models from the 1999 IPMS(USA) Nats held
at Orlando.
- Dave Judy builds Iron Shipwright's 1/350 resin kit of a USN LST 454.
Plus all the usual columns:
- Navinfotel by Ray Bean - current naval news
- One to One Hundred by Paul Jacobs - This deals with all the latest news
on the 1/1200/1250 range of miniatures.
- Book reviews Letter's page.
All in all, another good read
