Plastic Ship Modeller No. 24

By: Shane Jenkins

I look forward to each issue of Plastic Ship Modeler and Dan and his team have put together a nice issue again. Though the photo quality in this issue does vary a bit, I'm led to believe that this a temporary situation that will be resolved soon. I applaud Dan's extended photo coverage in the resin and photo etch reviews and hope that it will soon be across the board with the plastic kits and book reviews getting the same treatment. Also covered in this issue:

USS Long Beach - Ray Bean builds the Jag 1/700 kit of the US Nuclear cruiser.

PQ-18 - Chris Drage shows us another of his eye-dropping dioramas. He gives us a brief rundown on the importance of this convoy after the disaster of PQ-17.

United States Shipping Board 502 class liners - Dan looks at this class of liners and supplies drawings for them.

Skytrex 1/700 range - Chris Drage reviews this line of white metal ships.

Audace - Falk Pletscher looks at the intriguing history of this destroyer over two world wars and four owners.

Photo feature of the German navy in WW1

Swedish naval camouflage 1939- 45 - In this article by Mike Cooper the Swedish navy camouflage during WW2 is analysed.

As well as the usual columns, in which the following is worth noting:

Letters - Here among the letters Falk Pletscher updates his Austro/Hungarian naval colour article.
Infonavtel - Ray Bean column features a nice drawing of the heavy lift ship Blue Marlin.
Bibliophile - Dan looks at books on tugs
Ships Byte - Joe D'amato's column makes a welcome return.
