The Royal Navy In Old Photographs
Author: Wilfred Pym Trotter
By: Shane Jenkins
Covering the period 1849 to 1914 this pictorial title showcases the evolution of Royal Navy vessels. From first rate sailing ships, ironclads, pre-dreadnoughts through to the battle cruisers this book has them all. Of particular interest are the photos of sailors doing their normal duties from coaling to collecting their pay combined with many fascinating shots of Royal Naval vessels (190 photographs in all) Although the photos are from the earliest days of photography, they are amazingly clear and will benefit the modeller immensely. Published in 1975, this book may be hard to track down, but if found will make an intriguing addition to any ship modeller's or naval historian's library. Recommended |
